Leadership and learning
are indispensable to each other.
- John F. Kennedy

KDG Human Resource Solutions presents a 10-week supervisory training program designed to provide participants with the critical people skills needed to become excellent supervisors.

Communication and Supervision (3 parts)
Everything we do involves communication, and supervisors must know how to communicate effectively in order to get the job done. This workshop provides practical tips that can be immediately implemented to improve communication in every aspect of the participants’ lives by exploring:

  • what it means to truly communicate with others
  • why it’s difficult to communicate
  • how our personality, gender, culture, and age positively and negatively impact our communication with others
  • how to communicate more effectively while sending and receiving messages
  • the incredible impact that a supervisor’s communication has on those they supervise

Teambuilding
Supervisors need to be able to build and lead an effective team in order to reach the organization’s goals. In this workshop participants will learn how to:

  • communicate the mission, vision, and goals of the organization
  • establish clear roles and responsibilities
  • create and nurture good interpersonal relationships
  • examine and improve work processes
  • develop good inter-team relationships

Conflict Resolution
Every team is going to experience conflict. In this workshop participants will explore:

  • causes of conflict
  • common ways people mishandle conflict
  • the detrimental impact of ineffectively expressing anger
  • how to assertively resolve conflict
  • how to mediate conflicts between others

Performance Management
The ability to effectively manage the performance of others is vital to the success of a supervisor. This workshop teaches participants how to:

  • create and communicate clear expectations
  • objectively monitor performance
  • effectively document performance
  • provide effective feedback
  • fairly appraise the performance of others

Decision Making and Problem Solving
Supervisors must make decisions and solve problems on a daily basis. This workshop explores:

  • how different personalities tend to approach decision making/problem solving, the strengths and weaknesses of those approaches, and how to minimize the weaknesses
  • problems groups encounter when making decisions/solving problems and how to overcome them
  • basic guidelines in decision making/problem solving

Empowering and Delegating
Because supervisors can’t do everything themselves, they must learn how to empower and delegate to others. This workshop examines:

  • the meaning of empowerment
  • the five key elements of empowerment
  • how to develop empowerment
  • deciding when and to whom to delegate
  • how to delegate effectively

Conducting Interviews
Effective interviews don’t just happen – they must be purposefully planned and executed. Participants will become more adept at interviewing by learning how to:

  • plan an interview
  • conduct an interview
  • document an interview

Ethical & Legal Aspects of Supervision
Because supervisors are in a position of authority, there are often legal consequences to mistakes they make. This workshop discusses the legal responsibilities of the supervisor and how to avoid costly lawsuits.
