The California Living Museum (CALM), 10500 Alfred Harrell Highway (between Lake Ming and Hart Park) will be open, but the Kern County Museum, 3801 Chester Ave. in Bakersfield, will be closed for the May 26 Memorial Day holiday.
CALM will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., offering $1 off admission prices for active, reserve or retired military and children. CALM is a zoo and botanical garden housing animals which because of injury or abandonment cannot survive on their own. For admission prices and other information about CALM, visit the Web site, http://www.calmzoo.org or call (661) 872-2256.
The Kern County Museum will be closed May 26 but will re-open May 27 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Currently under restoration at the museum is the historic J.J. Lopez House, which was recently moved from its residential site at Rosedale Highway and Calloway Drive. Lopez moved to Kern County in 1874, became a long time Tejon Ranch manager and built the house between 1906 and 1909. For admission prices and other information about the museum visit the Web site, http://www.kcmuseum.org or call (661) 852-5000.
