Guys On The Green

Who said guys don’t have a lot to say? Welcome to Guys on the Green, our new monthly all-male-focused community feature. Each month we’re going to introduce you to familiar faces and names from within the community. However, we’re not going to just focus on their careers! We are going to meet the men too!

Business Development

Dave Plivelich

What has been the defining moment in your career?

Ken Keller  – The transition made personally and professionally to relocate to Bakersfield and assume this position at BMH.

Dave Plivelich – The defining moment in my career was the day that I decided to start my own business. Taking on the responsibility that comes with involving others in what I do. Truly understanding what it means to work with people that rely on each other to achieve what they desire. It is a really great thing.

Joe Aduelo – Accepting a position with the Bank of California in 1992.  I worked with a great team of bankers that opened my eyes to commercial lending and how to be a better business advisor.

Brad Buckley – I would say it happened back in 1988, twenty years ago. After a three-year absence from my family business when I had another business venture, I realized that the radio business was my true passion. It was at that time I made the commitment to make radio my life-long pursuit.

Where do you like to go on vacation?

Ken Keller  – Anywhere near or on a beach because I love the ocean and watersports associated with it.

Dave Plivelich – I love going any place that I have not been to before. I definitely lean towards warmer climates. Travel is very important to me. I want to experience as much of the world as I possibly can. I try my best not to go to the same place twice. There are just so many places and things to experience.

Joe Aduelo – Santa Barbara is my favorite place for short weekend getaways because it’s an easy drive with great dining, shopping, and scenery.  The best vacation we ever took as a family was a one-week trip to Maui.  The weather, food, sights, experiences and time together was unforgettable.

Brad Buckley – My family and I like to take one sunny vacation and one snowy vacation each year. The sunny vacation is usually Mexico but sometimes Hawaii. Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas are both great. As far as snow/skiing, we love Mammoth but are starting to branch out to other ski resorts in different states.

What is your favorite community event?

Ken Keller  – I’ve enjoyed the annual Jazz Fest and Brews in the Village because they remind me of many of the festivals/events back home in Louisiana and the annual Bakersfield Heart Walk for the impact it has for our community.

Dave Plivelich – If I had to pick one that I would encourage others to experience at least once it would be Childspree or any event like it. It’s awesome to take a less fortunate child shopping. The thing I find most inspiring is that they really don’t want to purchase things for themselves.

Joe Aduelo – The Bakersfield Jazz Festival - It brings people from all over the community and walks of life together for a couple of days.  I also make it a point to attend the “Party in the Park” before the festival.

Brad Buckley – That would be Brews in the Village – for two reasons. One is that I love social events and seeing people I haven’t seen in a while. The other reason is that the founder of Brews, Rick Peace, created C.A.R.E., a local children’s charity, which the proceeds of Brews benefit.

How do you relieve stress after work?

Ken Keller – Exercise, read and relax and the occasional cocktail on weekends.

Dave Plivelich – Spending time with my two boys, Cameron, and Jayden. I’ve picked up sailing recently. I’d love to say golf but it only has fleeting moments where I would consider it stress relief.

Joe Aduelo – During the summer months, I like to work with my hands on a project or out in the yard.  In the winter months, dinner at home with my wife at the dinner table and just talking about our day.

Brad Buckley – I enjoy being with my wife Danielle and children Blair, Hayden and Ian. My family is a huge source of  personal enjoyment for me.
