Free Coach and Parent Workshop:
Preventing Injury and Maximizing
Performance through Research

Aaron O. Gillies of Bakersfield, CA has become certified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) by the NSCA Certification Commission. The CSCS certification is for professionals who design and implement strength training and conditioning programs for athletes in a team setting.

Pair & Marotta Physical Therapy will be hosting a free workshop on Saturday December 8 at 5337 Truxtun Ext. This workshop is intended for coaches and parents of high school and junior league levels.

This 2-hour workshop will update coaches on recent research demonstrating new techniques for proper sport and activity warm up as well as proper sport specific conditioning methods.  The workshop will also demonstrate why certain sport preparation programs and techniques should be avoided.

Every parent instills trust in their child’s coach. Most coaches are unaware of this and unaware that their first priority is to keep athletes from getting hurt or injured. Many coaches haphazardly design warm-ups and are using pre-event activities that are outdated and have been shown to reduce performance and inadequately prepare athletes for competition.

This seminar is presented by Aaron Gillies, CSCS. Gillies earned his Bachelor degree in Exercise Science from Cal State Univ., Bakersfield. He recently earned his Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength & Conditioning Assoc. (NSCA). Gillies also has a certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
