The annual festival is a wonderful chance for artists to showcase their work and compete in a juried event with a wide array of other artists. Entries are accepted May 31 and June 1. An opening reception and announcement of winners will be held June 28 at 6 p.m. at the Bakersfield Museum of Art and the exhibit will run from June 28 through September 8, 2007.
Entries may be two or three –dimensional art or photography and must measure no more than 16” x 16” x 16”, including frame. The artwork must have been executed within three years of submission. Artists may submit up to three framed works and each work must be accompanied by a completed entry form and entry fee. The entry fee is $25 for museum members, and is good for three pieces. Non-members of the museum pay $35 for up to three pieces.
Artwork may be done in any medium and entries must be received by 4 p.m. June 1, 2007.
Prizes for the competitions include Best of Show - $800; Second place - $500; Third place - $200 and Honorable mention – non-cash award.
Submitted artwork will also be offered for sale with the artists setting a price, not to exceed $1,000. A 40 percent commission is retained by the museum.
