CSUB graduate student symposium scheduled

California State University, Bakersfield’s School of Education will hold its fourth annual graduate student research symposium on Monday, May 19, at 6 p.m. in the Dezember Leadership Center on campus.

Graduate students will present their research centered on the theme, “Ideas which will help teachers improve student achievement.”

Additionally, 35 graduate students have identified the specific standards that are causing local K-12 students the most difficulty, and will present alternative lesson plans for teaching that content.

K-12 public school teachers are encouraged to attend.

The event is free and open to the public. Chevron Corp. will provide refreshments.

Full Moon Ride

This is a fun night ride for anyone that wants to enjoy a nice full moon. All levels of riders are welcome, but helmets and lights are required.

Meet: Park at River Walk

Ride: Out to Enos Ln. and back. (Or the option of turning back earlier for less miles)

Time: 8pm sharp

Flat fixn's and water are also good things to bring on this ride.

Learn to Meditate

The Bakersfield Meditation Society offers Free classes in meditation, relaxation, and personal and professional development. Meditation is a process of quieting your thoughts and reaching higher states of mind. Beginners are always welcome! Meditation instruction and a short meditation are included in each class. Classes are held at the Greenacres Community Center from 7-8 pm.
