Chris - > A look inside Bakersfield Life magazine -> What a great year that was.
What a great year that was.
It feels like it has been some time since I have posted a blog here. I know you understand how time gets away from us. Time to sit on the computer away from work activities is hard to come by these days.
You may think that being a managing editor of Bakersfield’s premier city magazine would take me all over town, meeting interesting people and involved with every possible group. In a way you’re right. I do get the opportunity to meet some of the most interesting people in Bakersfield, but mainly my day is a lot like yours. I am in front of the computer more than not.
I did get a few moments to get away from the computer for the new December issue of Bakersfield Life, and yes, had the opportunity to talk to many people in the community. This issue, I had the chance to talk to many locals about their 2007 reflections and their 2008 projections. You’ll read responses from our mayor, Harvey Hall, Sheriff Youngblood, BPD Chief Rector and leaders of many businesses and nonprofits. I found this assignment interesting as I had the opportunity to see how so many people view the same world through different eyes.
I am excited about the article on Winter Treats in the December issue. We meet local bakers and hear how some of their culinary delights came to be. I would love to dress my table with these fun seasonal side dishes.
Continuing to look back at 2007, can you remember the last time someone told you there was nothing to do in Bakersfield? I can. It was yesterday. We are out to prove them wrong as we have compiled a list of all the arts and entertainment events that came to Bakersfield in 2007. Trust me, there is plenty to do.
Finally, I am excited about all the places where we sent out photographers this month. We have 10 pages dedicated to you and the events that you went to this last month. There are many things to do in Bakersfield and we work hard every month to capture people as they are “giving back’ and enjoying our local events.
Now that we have put the December issue to bed, it’s time to get out and away from the computer to continue moving forward. We have some great surprises in store for you in January and February. I hope you’ll join us in stepping away from the computer, sitting down with a great magazine, and starting your Saturday off right.
