If you believe that oil leases, petroleum engineering, and geology aren't a natural thrill ride, you're reading the wrong books!

First-time novelist Lee Mossel has struck oil (pardon the puns) in his new high-octane suspense, "The Murder Prospect."

"The Murder Prospect" by Lee Mossel is available for $12.99 at Russo's Books at The Marketplace, 9000 Ming Ave.

The book introduces private investigator Cort Scott, a former U.S. Army Ranger and retired oil industry insider, who works hard, lives fast and plays loose with the rules. Scott's form of justice borders on vigilante, but the man gets results. Indeed, Scott is the right man for the job when an oil exploration deal turns deadly, and he uncovers a vicious mob connection that others prefer remain hidden.

Mossel, a retired petroleum engineer and oil executive, is a Denver-area resident with Kern County family and business ties. Although his heart-pounding novel uses the oil industry as its backdrop, this series (book two is due out this spring) is for anyone seeking a fast-paced, hard-driving murder thriller. This well-written novel's compelling story isn't for the faint of heart, but fans of Robert B. Parker or Walter Mosley adventures will certainly find a new hero in Cort Scott.
